 The power of activated carbon: Used in military gas masks, activated carbon is an extremely porous substance capable of adsorbing and permanently trapping serious airborne chemicals, fumes, odors and gases. The effectiveness of carbon is based on dwell time. The larger and deeper the carbon bed, the more time toxins have to linger in the carbon filter and be adsorbed. HEPA Filtration: Units with advanced HEPA filtration are capable of trapping at least 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. Acccoring to Harvard's School of Public Health the most dangerous particles are 10 microns or less in size.
